Reaching the world for Christ!

Update from March 4, 2003

Dear Friends,
Kay and I wanted to write and let you know what is happening here in East Africa. We are doing fine. We have been very busy with the construction of our new primary school and orphanage - Yesu Afayo (Jesus Cares) Jubilee Primary and Children's Home. The work is going well. We have cleared the land and the foundation is just about completed. I wish you could have seen the people of the village when road grader was leveling the ground. It was exciting.

Right now as our workers are doing the foundation we have our geologist and his team with the big drilling rig drilling a water well on site. We are thankful that we will be able to have indoor plumbing for the school! It will be great.

We have been able to purchase some additional property that is adjacent to the present property. This will give us room for future expansion as well as provide areas to raise some crops and on which to do our poultry project.

We are still looking for land for our clinic/hospital. Our doctor, Dr. Wilson Bulega and his wife Prossy are doing an incredible job as they direct the clinic. Dr. Wilson is a very gifted surgeon. In addition to all the responsibilities of the hospital and clinic, they also oversee the nursing school. Right now there are right now twenty students at the school.. They spend one full year in intensive studies and on site work. They live right at the school. Upon graduation, these nurses are in demand at other clinics and hospitals. We are sore pressed though for space. You could not believe the how much Dr. Bulega and the staff are able to get done with what they have to work with. Please pray for us as we search for new, bigger and better facilities.

We are also in need of additional equipment. We must get an x-ray machine. We have received work of two portable units which we would love to have. They serve different purposes, one especially during surgical situations where an x-ray during the surgery is needed. To get these will require $10,500. Pray with us about this need.

We of course would then need to ship them here to Uganda, but we are already at work gathering other things we need for the hospital as well as for the school.

We had a great crusade out west in Ft. Portal area a couple of weeks ago. It was a blessing having Pastor Harry S. and his team from Sign of The Dove Church in North Chicago with us. Everyone with him did an incredible job. They made powerful impact on our people here. We had ministry teams in different areas including another village some miles away during the daytime. We also sent our Village Health Care Team out to minister in a very remote village 2 hours away. We then took them down to care for one of our pygmies villages.

The first night of the crusade at the conclusion of Pastor Harry's message, we invited people forward for prayer. One elderly man came forward wearing glasses so very thick. I looked through them but could see nothing. His eye sight was so poor. He was near blind. As our team prayed for him God touched him. He took his glasses off and no longer has use for them!

During the seminar the following day, a deaf and dumb lady came forward for prayer. After which, her ears were opened and she began trying to speak the words she was hearing. God had healed her instantly! It was great! We thank God for His wonder working power and love.

Thank you Pastor Harry S., your team and Sign of The Dove Church for blessing us as you did.

Pastor Lindell B. and his wife Darlene from Jubilee International Ministries of Pensacola, Florida will be with us the first part of April. They will be ministering up country and doing leadership seminars in a couple of our churches. These dear friends have blessed us a great deal with our mission and orphanage project. We look forward to their time with us.
